Audrey Conn Pennington, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, peacefully passed away on June 1, 2023, at the age of 106. She was a longtime Clinton County resident, but was residing at Vienna Springs in Dayton, Ohio at the time of her passing, surrounded by her loving family.
Audrey was born on December 30, 1916, in Elliott County, Kentucky, to her late parents Jerry and Josie Conn. She was the fourth of six children and cherished her close-knit family.
On August 14, 1942, Audrey was joined in matrimony with Guy Pennington, the love of her life. They were blessed with 60 years of marital bliss before Guy's passing on May 22, 2003. Audrey and Guy's love was an inspiration to all who knew them. Preceding her in death were her siblings and their spouses: Roscoe Conn, Virgil (Frances) Conn, Ernest (Ina) Conn, Buck Conn, and Lorene (Bill) Kegley.
Audrey is survived by her two loving daughters, Carol (Bob) Warner of Dayton, Ohio, and Judy (Steve) Brandenburg of Westerville, Ohio. She was a devoted grandmother to her grandson Craig Brandenburg of Houston, Texas, and her granddaughter Lesley (Ryan) Sittler of New Albany, Ohio. Audrey found immense joy in her role as a great-grandmother to Harlow Sittler and Rowan Sittler, both residing in New Albany, Ohio. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law Loretta Conn, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Audrey will be remembered for her unwavering faith and commitment to her Christian beliefs. She was an active member of the Immanuel Baptist Church, where she found solace and support from her church community. Audrey's deep-rooted faith served as a guiding light throughout her life, and she leaves behind a legacy of spiritual strength.
Visitation will be at Smith Funeral Home, 327 N South Street, Wilmington, Ohio on Wednesday, June 7, from 10:00AM -12:00 PM. A Celebration of Life service, officiated by Pastor Wayne Woody, will commence at 12 PM. Following the service, Audrey will be laid to rest in the peaceful grounds of Clinton County Memory Gardens.
