Bruce Haggerty

Bruce Haggerty, 60, of Wilmington, Ohio passed away Friday, August 19, 2022 at his residence.  His wife, Kathy Jean Porter Haggerty, survives.  They were married March 17, 1989.  Mr. Haggerty was born November 7, 1961 in Wilmington, Ohio, son of the late Jerry Louis Haggerty and Clarice Rosalie “Rosie” Ingalsbe Haggerty.  He was a 1980 graduate of Wilmington High School.  He received his degree in industrial arts and industrial education from Wilmington College in 1984.

Bruce was currently employed at Bane-Welker where he drove a semi-truck.  He also farmed and worked on trucks, racecars, pulling trucks, and pulling tractors.  He was a member of the Southwestern Ohio Tractor Pullers Association and Track Masters.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Joe Walker; two brothers, Jerry "J.D." (Ella) Haggerty and Kevin (Elizabeth) Haggerty; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Jerry & Sheila Porter, and Bonita Porter & Bob LaGesse; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, aunts, uncles, and a nephew.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, Friday, August 26, 2022 at Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio.  A service officiated by Mike McCormick will begin at 1:00 PM, Friday.  Interment will be in Springfield Friends Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
