Delores “Yvonne” LeVan, 80, of Centerville, Ohio passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at Hospice of Dayton. She was born on December 27, 1943 in Wilmington, Ohio, daughter of the late John Mahaffey and Louise George Mahaffey.
Yvonne was a 1962 graduate of Wilmington High School. She received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from Antioch University. In 2008, she received her Doctorate in Psychology from the University of Southern California.
Yvonne retired after working 34 years at NCR in Dayton. She was also a substitute teacher in West Carrollton, a court appointed special advocate for Montgomery County Courts, and a junior achievement advisor in Montgomery County. She enjoyed reading and writing poetry. She was also an avid card player and was a member of a euchre card club for over 50 years.
She is survived by her daughter, Angie (Bill) Tillinghast of Centerville, Ohio; her son, Chris (Stacy) Cook of Broadview Heights, Ohio; a brother, Charles (Clida) Mahaffey of Lebanon, Ohio; two sisters, Mary Ruth Adams of Hillsboro, Ohio and Judi Creeger of Wilmington, Ohio; her grandchildren, Hilary (Justin) Farmer, Alexy (Michael Ley) Cook, and Sophia Cook; a great-grandchild, Nolan Farmer; her nieces and nephews, Tony (Barb) Adams, Vickie (Darrell) Warnock, Jason (Elaine) Creeger, Emmalee Smith, and Lori (Brian) Cassner; as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a nephew, David Adams; a niece, Kimberly Adams; and her grandmother, Vina George.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM, Saturday, November 30, 2024 at Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio. A funeral service with Pastor Jim Ludwick officiating will begin at 11:00 AM, Saturday. Burial will follow in Sugar Grove Cemetery.
