Doris Jean (Brawand) Hitzfield

Doris Jean Hitzfield, age 96, passed away Monday, July 7, 2025 at Heritage Spring of West Chester.  She was born July 10, 1928 in Louisville, Kentucky, daughter of the late Alfred Konrad Brawand and Ethel Schreiner Brawand.  She was a graduate of Guilford High School near Lawrenceburg, Indiana.

During her career, Doris was the manager of computer data at the Fernald Atomic Plant.  She later retired from the Avon Company.  She was a member of First Baptist Church in Greendale, Indiana.  Doris loved red velvet cake, Bloody Marys, and crocheting Afghans.  She was loved by many and was the matriarch of her family.

She is survived by a son, Rodney James (Anita) Sizemore Sr.; two daughters, Linda Sizemore McPherson and Patricia Ann (Gary) Baume; stepdaughters, Lori (Mike) Manning and Lucy (Chris) Atkinson; as well as several grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and many great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her first husband of 26 years, Victor Sizemore; her second husband of 26 years, Robert Hitzfield; two sisters, Dorothy and Joann; and an infant brother.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Friday, July 25, 2025 at Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio.
