Edward Black Obituary

Edward R. Black, 93, of Clarksville, Ohio passed away Friday, July 12, 2024 at his home.  His wife, Betty J. Dillow Black, survives.  They were married on September 7, 1957.  Mr. Black was born December 2, 1930 in Wayne County, Indiana, son of the late Walter Black and Vera Statts Black.  He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

Mr. Black owned and operated the Fishing Pole Bait Shop near Clarksville from 1965 until 1998.  Prior to that, he had worked at Richmond Power and Light and helped his father-in-law build pontoon boats.  He was an avid fisherman, enjoyed hunting, and was a member of the Wilmington Church of Christ.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Black is survived by sons, Duane Keiser, Rod (Melissa) Black, and Randy J. Black; and grandchildren, David Travis Black, Andrew Black, and Gabe Black.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Pamela Black; granddaughter, Heather Rose Black; brother, Duane Black; and sisters, Mary Horn and Karen Betschowa.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Friday, July 19, 2024 at Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio.  A funeral service will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Smith Funeral Home.  Burial will follow in Sugar Grove Cemetery.
