Edwin Bath Obituary

Dr. Edwin Frame Bath, 85 years, died Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Serene Suites, a memory care facility in Blue Ash, Ohio. He is survived by his wife of 62 ½ years, Leva Grant Bath. They were married August 11, 1962

Ed graduated from Wilmington High School in 1958 and attended Rollins College in Winter Park Florida studying pre-med and participating as the Coxswain on the Rollins College Rowing Team. He was also a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. He spent his last year of college studies at Wilmington College where he graduated in 1962.

Following in the footsteps of his father he began his medical education at the University of Louisville in Kentucky graduating in 1966 and did his residency in Columbus, Georgia.  He was a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy Reserve from 1967 to 1969 stationed in Jacksonville, Florida.  Ed joined his father, Dr. Richard Bath, in practice at Main Medical in Wilmington, Ohio specializing in family medicine and carrying on a tradition started by his grandfather, Dr. J. H. Frame.  During this time, he was a member of the Ohio State Medical Society and served on the staff of Clinton Memorial Hospital.

After retirement, his favorite past time was to entertain and cook for his guests. Ed enjoyed many hobbies and collections throughout the years and loved working in his gardens and traveling. One of his favorite destinations with his family was Sea Island, Georgia where he vacationed often. He adored his family and was blessed with many wonderful memories spent with them throughout the years.

He was born April 15, 1940, to Dr. Richard and Gwendolyn Bath who proceeded him in death as did a sister, Barbara Singleton Stone and sister-law, Suzanne Haidet.  

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Joe (Kerry) Bath of Wilmington and Mike (Trish) Bath of Cincinnati; three granddaughters, Ashley Bath of Melbourne, Florida, Laura Long with her children, Carson and Crew of Wilmington, and Gina Bath and her children, Berklee, Preston Edwin, and Wake of Beavercreek, Ohio; a sister Jennifer (Dr. John) Hollon; sister-in-law, Elizabeth (Don) White; several nieces and nephews; and special friend, Mike Noftsger of Doylestown, Pennsylvania.

Much appreciation is given to Smith Funeral Home for their assistance and service. There will be a private family gathering with no calling hours.
