Gary Lee Kersey passed away gracefully on March 25, 2021 at the age of 74. Gary was a lifelong resident of Clinton County, Ohio and resided on the Kersey family farm. Earlier in 2021 he received a cancer diagnosis and fought a strong and courageous battle till the end, which anyone that knew him would expect.
Gary is survived by and dearly loved by his wife, Sharon of 33 years; his daughters, Gena (Timothy Orr) Kersey, Nina (Benjamin Brown) Kersey; stepson, Charles (Stacie) Older; and the family cat, Callie. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gene Howard Kersey and Virginia (Curl) Kersey.
Gary was an active part of his community and was a teacher, realtor, auctioneer, entrepreneur, historian, Rotarian, philanthropist, environmentalist, and beloved husband and father. From his birth until his death, Gary mentored, inspired, and brought out the best in the community and the people around him.
Gary will be honored with a Celebration of Life which will be held from 3:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Thursday, April 1, 2021 at the Murphy Theatre, 50 W. Main Street, Wilmington, Ohio. Gary will be put to rest at 11:00 AM, Friday, April 2, 2021 in Maple Grove Cemetery, Port William, Ohio. Those attending the graveside service on Friday should meet at Maple Grove Cemetery in Port William.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested that contributions be made in Gary’s name to the Murphy Theatre to continue to preserve its historic legacy. The family also encourages others to donate blood to their local blood bank.
