George Henry Wiget, 88, of Wilmington, Ohio passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023 at Bell Gardens Place, Hillsboro, Ohio. His wife, Trisha A. Belt Wiget, survives. Mr. Wiget was born February 22, 1935 in Symmes Township, Hamilton County, Ohio, son of the late Fred W. Wiget and Lovisa Pearl Firman Wiget. He served in the U.S. Army.
George loved working on anything and was a master at making things go. As a child growing up on the family farm on Jenkins Road, he developed these skills into a profession. Whether it was working at a factory, a Ford dealership, a body shop, his own garage, or UPS, he was Mr. Fix It! He retired from UPS in 2000, but his work did not stop there. He was constantly wheeling, dealing, and tinkering on anything with wheels. He loved his family and was proud of their accomplishments.
In addition to his wife, George is survived by his children, Randy C. Wiget and Rachel A. Wiget (David L.) Adkins; grandchildren, Kalista A (fiancé, Michael Persson) Adkins and Kenton D. Adkins; great-grandchild, Ada Lee Wiget; brothers, Don E. Wiget, Norman E. (Faye Huff) Wiget, and Larry L. (Donna Cartwright) Wiget; and sisters, Doris M. Wiget (Donald) Cochran and Judy A. Wiget (Luke) Hartley.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Bethany Lee Wiget; brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond J. Wiget, Fred J. and Wanda Burden Wiget, C. Wayne and Sandy Janes Wiget, and Delores Doyle Wiget; and sister and brother-in-law, Thelma J. and Gerald Pierson.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, Monday, May 1, 2023 at Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio. A funeral service with Pastor Bill Bowman officiating will begin at 1:00 PM, Monday. Burial will follow in New Antioch Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Randy Wiget, David Adkins, Kenton Adkins, Michael Persson, Benny Combs, Kenny Sturgeon, Steve Jarrell, and Jeff St. John.
