Iva Irene Knauff Puckett, 93, of Wilmington, Ohio passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2022 at her daughter’s home in Morrow, Ohio. Her husband, Cecil Howard Puckett, preceded her in death December 14, 1997. She was born July 13, 1928 in Adams County, Ohio, daughter of the late Charles Frederick Knauff and Agnes Marie Hayslip Knauff.
Mrs. Puckett owned and operated Red Bird Haven Gift Shop in New Vienna for several years and was a member of the Red Hat Society. She loved red birds, playing scabble with family and friends, feeding birds, and cooking.
Mrs. Puckett is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Shela (John) Taylor of Morrow, Ohio, Shirley (John) Davis of Payson, Arizona, and Cheryl (Chuck) Bernard of New Vienna, Ohio; sisters, Mary Ruth Chaney of Sinking Spring, Ohio and Dorothy Kay Bartley of New Vienna, Ohio; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Glenn (Nancy) Knauff of Jamestown, Ohio, James VanPelt of Peebles, Ohio, Martha Knauff of New Vienna, Ohio, and Karen Knauff of South Carolina; grandchildren, Bryan Puckett, Beckey Taylor, Jona Powell, Erik Blair, Angela Smith, Lindey Davis, Jason Bernard, and Brandon Bernard; 17 great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; as well as numerous friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Sharon & Kenny Young; three grandchildren, Rodney Lane Bernard, Charity Lynn Peterson, and James L. Taylor; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Maxie Harold Knauff, Wylie Watson Knauff, Charles Dean Knauff, and Jean Puckett Knauff; and a sister and three brothers-in-law, Inez Ion & Frank McCleese, Dwight Chaney, and Lee Bartley.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio. A funeral service with Rev. Richard Williams officiating will begin at 1:00 PM, Wednesday. Burial will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery.
