Jane Maurer Stokes, 82, of Wilmington, Ohio passed away Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at her home. Her husband, Dale Stokes, survives. They were married July 22, 1963. She was born July 3, 1939 in Wooster, Ohio, daughter of the late Floyd and Thelma Darr Maurer.
Mrs. Stokes owned and operated Stokes Berry Farm with her husband and son for many years. She had also been a home economist teacher at Wilmington Junior High School and a bookkeeper for Mayer Farm Equipment.
Jane was a board member and former officer for the Wilmington Public Library. She had served on the Clinton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary Board and oversaw many hospital fundraisers. She was also a member of the Six and Twenty Club and the Presbyterian Church. Jane received her bachelor’s degree from The Ohio State University and enjoyed cooking, sewing, and traveling.
In addition to her husband, Jane is survived by a son, Mark B. (Stephanie) Stokes of Wilmington, Ohio; two grandchildren, Connor Stokes and Addison Stokes; a brother, David Maurer of Wooster, Ohio; nieces, Susan Kerns, Yvonne Wright, and Debbie Kirby; nephews, Roger Maurer and Philip Stokes; and a brother-in-law, Tom Stokes.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM, Saturday, March 26, 2022 at Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio. A memorial service will begin at 12:00 PM, Saturday, March 26, 2022.
