Jean Norine Swindler passed away peacefully at Saint Elizabeth Hospice, in Northern Kentucky on August 26, 2023 surrounded by her family. Jean was born in Tirumalagiri, India. During her final year at the Lawrence Memorial Royal Military Boarding School, she met her husband, John Swindler. John was in the United States Air Force and was working with the United Nations in Pakistan. In 1952, they were married in Essex, England. Three months later, Jean immigrated to the U.S. where John was stationed in Chicago, Illinois. After several years of traveling, John retired from the Air Force in 1966. At that time, Jean and John relocated to Wilmington, Ohio, where John joined the family business, Swindler and Sons Florist.
After raising her children, Linda, Scott, and Lori, Jean worked at Allen’s Photography Studio where many will remember her taking their senior photos. She ended her career by retiring from National City Bank. In her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family, spending time at the Senior Center, and going to lunch with her friends. Jean was quick witted, always interested in current events, and always up for a good conversation or debate.
She leaves behind a family that she was unconditionally devoted to, children, Linda (John) Hrenya, Scott (Connie) Swindler, and Lori Dixon; eight grandchildren, Nichole Hrenya, Lindsey (Nick) Paff, Kelly (Jaclyn) Swindler, Andrew Dixon, Joseph Dixon, Danial Dixon, and Michael Dixon. Jean was grateful to also have two great-grandchildren, Addison DeCastro and Bennett Paff.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Swindler; sister, Pamela Heckmann; and granddaughter, Amanda Hrenya.
Jean will be laid to rest in Sugar Grove Cemetery in Wilmington, Ohio. A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Sugar Grove Cemetery.
In loving memory, Jean would appreciate donations in her honor be made to the Clinton County Humane Society, P.O. Box 1024, Wilmington, Ohio 45177.
