Jo Ann Davis Murphy, 82, of Wilmington, Ohio passed away Saturday, August 24, 2024. Her husband of 64 years, Myron Murphy, survives. They were married June 12, 1960. She was born February 1, 1942 in Wilmington, Ohio, daughter of the late Donald Loren Davis and Helen Jo Hodson Davis. She was a 1960 graduate of Wilmington High School.
Mrs. Murphy founded Murphy Advertising in 1989. She also owned Murphy Properties South with her husband. She was a member of the First Christian Church – Disciples of Christ, the George Clinton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Ohio State Society Chapter of the Daughters of the American Colonist, and the Beta Master Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi in Wilmington of over 60 years. She enjoyed gardening.
Jo is survived by a son, Jeff (Paula) Murphy; daughters, Cathy (Brian) Bourgraf and Chris (Larry) Moore; a brother, Larry (Rhonda) Davis; her grandchildren, Brad (fiancée Emilee Anthony) Jenkins, Ashley (Geremie) Dart, Lindsey (Derek) Buss, Blake Speed Moore, and Jonathan Chase “JC” Moore; a great-granddaughter, Emma Kate Jenkins; a nephew, Andrew Davis; special friends, Mallien “Birdie” Allen and Kim Hall; as well as numerous other close friends.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon, Saturday, August 31, 2024 at the First Christian Church, 120 Columbus Street, Wilmington, Ohio. A funeral service with Rev. Connor L Thompson officiating will begin at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, followed by burial in Sugar Grove Cemetery.
