Joanne K. Gillam, 88, of Wilmington, Ohio passed away Friday, January 20, 2023 at Clinton Memorial Hospital. Her husband, Donald Gillam, preceded her in death November 27, 2010. They were married December 1, 1962. Mrs. Gillam was born August 18, 1934 in Dayton, Ohio, daughter of the late Russell Lewis and Katharine Staeuble Lewis. She was a graduate of Stivers High School in Dayton and attended Ohio University in Athens.
Mrs. Gillam worked as a bank teller at National Bank in Wilmington for over 20 years. She was a member of the Dover Friends Meeting and Beta Sigma Phi.
She is survived by her son, Karl (Lisa) Gillam, Pataskala, Ohio; her daughter, Donna (Brian) Arrington, Wilmington, Ohio; four grandchildren, Chris Gillam, Marcus (Stacey) Stewart, Jaya (Tony) Davila, and Violet Gillam; and ten great-grandchildren, Adrian Cody, Elijah Duane Stewart, Miya Ellyce Nance, Malique Thomas Nance, Myla Elizabeth Stewart-Olds, Mila Grace Gillam, Fiona Claire Gillam, Owen Giles Gillam, Nyles Williams, Jr., and Xavier Williams.
In addition to her husband and parents, two sisters, Ellen Leslie and Jeanne Beatty, are preceded in death.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Thursday, January 26, 2023 at Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio. A funeral service with Mike McCormick officiating will be held at 10:00 AM, Friday, January 27, 2023 at Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Sugar Grove Cemetery.
