John L. Coy, 73, of New Vienna, Ohio passed away Monday, April 5, 2021. His wife, Beverly A. Berkey Coy, survives. They were married November 25, 1977. Mr. Coy was born August 12, 1947 in Urbana, Ohio, son of the late Oak Evans and Sylvia I. Froman Evans.
Mr. Coy served in the United States Marine Corps during Vietnam and was awarded the Purple Heart. He then served many years in the Ohio National Guard retiring as a sergeant. After his military career, Mr. Coy worked in trucking management, was a restaurant owner, a licensed massage therapist, and assisted with a pet boarding and grooming business. He was also a military benefit advocate for other veterans.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Coy is survived by his three children, Rebecca (Chris) McLemore of Milford, OH, Matthew Coy of Cincinnati, OH, and Tricia Saunders of New Vienna, OH; three brothers, Daniel Coy of Bellefontaine, OH, Gary (Judy) Coy of Jessup, GA, and Steven Coy of Indian Lake, OH; his aunt, Wanda Chapman of Naples, FL; grandchildren, Heather, Jessica, Eric, Katlyn, Elizabeth, James, Christopher, and Kasandra; and seven great-grandchildren.
At Mr. Coy’s request, he will be cremated. No services are scheduled.
