John “JP” Peters, 64, of Wilmington, Ohio passed away April 27, 2024 at his residence. He was born November 25, 1959 in Xenia, Ohio, son of the late Maurice Edward Peters and Mary Ellen Schuh Peters. He was a graduate of Xenia High School.
Over the course of his career, Mr. Peters worked as a mechanic for Greenline and was the service manager for Tiger Machinery. He also farmed and was the owner and operator of JP Excavating. He was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church. JP enjoyed playing softball, woodworking, shooting, and refurbishing old tractors and equipment. He loved all things John Deere, was a thoughtful gift giver, and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by daughters, Jacque (Shea) Proctor of Wilmington, Ohio, Aubre Peters of Clarksville, Ohio, Alyssa Grace (Ben) Miller of Sabina, Ohio, and Georgia Peters of Xenia, Ohio; grandchildren, Aria Grove, Urban Miller, and Atley Miller; brothers, Mike (Evelyn) Peters of Loudon, Tennessee, Joe (Kathy) Peters of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Jerry (Bonnie) Peters of Xenia, Ohio, Tom (Lisa) Peters of Dayton, Ohio, Rick (Gayle) Peters of Xenia, Ohio and Jim (Christine) Peters of Conyers, Georgia; sisters, Ann Raney of Centerville, Ohio, Mary Beth (Phil) Smith of Rutledge, Tennessee, Patty (Pat) Ioas of Rutledge, Tennessee, Kay (Paul) Doerger of Taylor Mill, Kentucky, and Kelly (Mark) Brick of Pickerington, Ohio; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, a brother-in-law, John Raney, is preceded in death.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Friday, May 10, 2024 at Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM, Saturday, May 11, 2024 at St. Brigid Catholic Church, 312 Fairground Rd, Xenia, Ohio. Burial will follow in St. Brigid Cemetery, Xenia, Ohio.
