John S. Simonson

John S. Simonson, 70, of Oregonia, Ohio passed away Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio.  His wife, Barbara Beals Brenner Simonson, survives.  They were married June 24 2006.  He was born April 29, 1954 in Wilmington, Ohio, son of the late Raymond Simonson and Elsie Thrasher Simonson.  He was a graduate of Clinton Massie High School

Mr. Simonson was a maintenance worker at Clinton Memorial Hospital for several years and was also involved in farming.  He was a member of St. Columbkille Catholic Church and the Antique Power Club.  He enjoyed gardening and restoring tractors.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Simonson is survived by his children, Melissa Pierce of Hillsboro, Ohio, Angie (Kelly) Penny of Midland, Ohio, and Jonathan Simonson of Hillsboro, Ohio; his stepchildren, Paul (Elly) Brenner of South Bend, Indiana, Nick (Lisa) Brenner of Morrow, Ohio, and Ben (Megan) Brenner of Loveland, Ohio; two brothers, David and Raymond; a sister, Mary; 22 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by six brothers, Lawrence, Joseph, Dennis, Eddie, Michael, and Christopher; and two sisters, Regina and Ruthann. 

The family will receive friends from 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM, Friday, January 17, 2025 at Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:00 Noon, Friday at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, 73 N. Mulberry Street, Wilmington, Ohio.  Interment will be in Sugar Grove Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in John’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
