Joseph E. Pinkerton Jr., of Seaman, Ohio, passed away Monday, December 23, 2024 at his residence. His wife, Anna Louise Pinkerton, preceded him in death February 2, 2006. They were married on December 17, 1957. He was born November 20, 1938 in Portsmouth, Ohio, son of the late Joseph E. Pinkerton Sr. and Marjorie Bond Pinkerton.
Mr. Pinkerton was a retired truck driver. He also retired after serving as the preacher for many years at the Beechgrove Freewill Baptist Church. He was a 1957 graduate of Simon Kenton High School and served in the U.S. Air Force during Vietnam. He was a member of Samantha Bible Baptist Church and the American Legion in Hillsboro. He was also a longtime little league baseball coach in New Vienna.
Mr. Pinkerton is survived by three daughters, Deborah Johnson of Seaman, Ohio, Terri (John) Willett of New Vienna, Ohio, and Rebecca (David) Huffman of Beavercreek, Ohio; brothers, Roger (Carolyn J.) Pinkerton of New Vienna, Ohio, Randy (Mindy) Pinkerton of Wilmington, Ohio, and Ronnie (Melissa) Pinkerton of Clarksville, Ohio; sisters, Mary (Merle) Pocholec of Oregon and Joan (Rex) Humphry of Hillsboro, Ohio; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Pinkerton and John Pinkerton; and a sister, Betty Burke.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Monday, December 30, 2024 at the Samantha Bible Baptist Church, 10211 State Route 72, Leesburg, Ohio. A funeral service with Brother David Pinkerton and Pastor Chad Watson officiating will begin at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Samantha Bible Baptist Church. Burial will follow at New Vienna I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
