Judy Ann (Shanahan) Vess Salley

Judy Ann Vess Salley, ended her courageous battle with cancer Saturday, October 30, 2021 surrounded by her family at her daughter’s home in Tennessee.  She was born May 14, 1943 in Caryville, Tennessee, daughter of the late James “Boyd” Shanahan and Lydia Shanahan-Gwinn.

Judy was a pianist for many years at First Free Will Baptist Church in Newport, Tennessee.  After moving to Ohio, she was the pianist for over 30 years at Franklin Baptist Church.  Playing the piano is what she called her service to the Lord.  More than that, it was a Blessing to anyone who heard her play.

Judy is survived by her husband, Jackson Salley; son, Jeff (Bobbie) Vess; daughter, Jennifer (Dale Noland) Webb; son-in-law, Douglas Webb; grandchildren, Benjamin (Selena) Vess, Jedidiah (Ashley) Vess, Kaylee (Stan) Morris, Olivia Webb, Quinton Webb, Kayla (Joe) D’Agostino, and Danielle (Richard) Bowen; great-grandchildren, Mia, Dominic, Zackary, Maddison, Brookelynn, Annistyn, Callen, Leonardo, Enrico and Grant; her brother, James ”Jimmy” (Carol) Shanahan; her sisters, Linda (Wayne) McCamey and Pam (Johnny) Tussey; and numerous nieces, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husband, James Vess, stepfather, Loma Gwinn, and her niece, Lori Ann McCamey-Sponcia.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon – 2:00 PM, Friday, November 5, 2021 at Franklin Baptist Church, 160 Deardoff Rd, Franklin, Ohio followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, Friday.  Burial will be in Miami Valley Memory Gardens.  Following the interment, everyone is invited to return to Franklin Baptist Church for a celebration of life dinner.
