Katherine Ann (James) "Kathy" Carroll

Katherine Ann “Kathy” Carroll, 68, of Wilmington, Ohio passed away Friday, September 2, 2022 at Bethesda North Hospital.  Her husband, Del L. Carroll, survives.  They were married September 27, 2008.  She was born September 7, 1953 in Dayton, Ohio, daughter of Raymond Edward James of Russell Springs, Kentucky and the late Marjorie Collins James.  She was a graduate of Patterson Cooperative High School in Dayton and received her associates degree from Sinclair Community College.

Mrs. Carroll retired from Clinton Massie School.  She was currently teaching ASL at Wilmington College and working as an ASL interpreter in the community.  Kathy was serving as president of the American Legion Post 49 Auxiliary.  She was also serving as secretary of the Wilmington Lion’s Club.  Additionally, she was a member of the Wilmington Eagles, the VFW Post 6710 Auxiliary, and the Wilmington Friends Meeting.

In addition to her husband and father, Kathy is survived by her stepmother, Barbara James; daughter, Emily Gerhard of Wilmington, Ohio; stepchildren, Brittany Carroll of Hillsboro, Ohio and Del Lee Carroll Jr. of Wilmington, Ohio; sister, Sue Huseman of Florence, Kentucky; stepbrothers, William LeMaster of Kentucky and Phillip Hosack of Kentucky; grandchildren, Cyress Gerhard, Tearrence Gerhard, Clarity Gerhard, Matthew Smith, McKenzie Smith, Isiah Carroll, Madyson Carroll, and Nate Utley; her mother-in-law, Ruth Carroll; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Gretchen James, Debbie (Kenny) Dixon, and Deeann (Sheridan) Miller; as well as several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews.

In addition to her mother, Kathy was preceded in death by her son, Ryan Gerhard; her brother, Richard James; a stepbrother, Timmy Hosack; and a niece, Heather James.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Thursday, September 8, 2022 at Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio.
