Kathleen Mae Estep, 87, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021 at her home, The Laurels of Blanchester. She was born December 8, 1933 in Newburg, West Virginia, daughter of the late Milford and Bertha Sharp Rainey.
Kathleen retired from Clinton Memorial Hospital after 20 years of service. She was vice president of council at The Laurels of Blanchester and a member of the First Church of God, in Wilmington. She enjoyed gardening and feeding birds.
She is survived by six children, Jim (Paulette) Lowe of Clarksville, Tennessee, Robert Estep Wilmington, Ohio, Gary Estep of Hillsboro, Ohio, Karen Johnson of Wilmington, Ohio, Steve Estep of Lynchburg, Ohio, and Jeff Estep of Wilmington, Ohio; a sister, Regina Denkenberger of Wilmington, Ohio; her grandchildren, Amy Lowe, Scott Lowe, Steve Lowe, Angel Rogers, B.J. Estep, Amy Estep, Matt Estep, Chris Estep, Melissa Friend, Rusty Estep, Kathy Estep, Holly Estep, Jessica Germann, Jerry Johnson, Stevie Estep, Kyle Estep, Travis Estep, Amber Smith, and Erika Seitz; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; her extended family at the Laurels of Blanchester; and her best friend, Kevin Kmett.
In addition to her parents, Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, Van Edward Estep; four sons, Paul, Larry, Carl, and Rick; daughter-in-law, Wanda Estep; and her sister, Eleanor Lee Ball.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM, Wednesday, November 3, 2021 at Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio. A funeral service with Tom Huffman officiating will be held 10:30 AM, Thursday, November 4, 2021 at Smith Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Clinton County Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Kathleen’s memory may be made to the Kathleen Estep Memorial Garden Fund. Checks should be made payable to Karen Johnson c/o Fifth Third Bank, 995 Rombach Avenue, Wilmington, Ohio 45177. Contributions will be used to establish a bench and plaque in Kathleen’s memory at the Laurels of Blanchester.
