Lois M. Allen, 94, of Wilmington, Ohio passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Ohio Living Cape May. Her husband, Harvey Richard Allen, preceded her in death March 25, 1996. They were married August 17, 1946. Mrs. Allen was born August 6, 1927 in Blanchester, Ohio, daughter of the late James H. and Florence Fisher Taylor. She was a 1945 graduate of Martinsville High School.
Mrs. Allen retired from Smith-Feike-Minton Insurance Company and the Clinton County Clerk of Courts.
Lois was a member of the Cuba Friends Meeting, the New Vienna Order of the Eastern Star #327, the American Legion Post 49 Auxiliary, and the Health Alliance of Clinton County. She was Past Matron of the Martinsville Order of the Eastern Star #173 and served as the Deputy Grand Matron of District 21. She was a member and past president of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and the Clinton County Women’s Club as well as a member and past chairperson of the Clinton County Board of Elections. She was a member and past secretary of the Clinton County Republican Committee. Additionally, Lois was honored as an Outstanding Woman of Clinton County.
Lois is survived by her sister-in-law, Dorothy Taylor; nieces and nephews, Sue Ann Campbell, Debra Taylor, Jerry Taylor, James R. Taylor, and Kenneth Taylor; her adopted grandchildren, Dick (Jane) Watters and Linda (Michael Sr.) Hudson; adopted great-grandchildren, Madelaine (Kelvin) Parent, Michael (Danielle) Hudson Jr., Richard R. Watters Jr., Melinda L. (James) Davis, Noelle (Damon) Hahn, and Brandon (Marissa) Smyczek; adopted great-great-grandchildren, Micah Towe, Nathaniel Davis, Josh Davis, Miles Parent, Sydney Hahn, Emmalyn Smyczek, Brynlee Smyczek, Lincoln Hahn, and Kiyla Smyczek; extended family, Donald R. (Shirley) Watters; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by brothers and sisters-in-law, Delmar E. & Mary Taylor, Donald G. Taylor, James E. Taylor, and Russell A. & Wilda Taylor; sister and brother-in-law, Bertha & Paul Miller; and extended family, Bonnie L. Watters.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon, Thursday, February 17, 2022 at Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio. An Eastern Star service will be conducted at the conclusion of visitation followed by a funeral service with Pastor Dan Mayo officiating. Burial will be in Martinsville I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
