Mary Lois (Runk) Irwin

Mary Lois Irwin, 91, of Wilmington, died at 3:24 PM, Wednesday, July 13, 2022. She was born June 21, 1931 in Martinsville, Ohio, daughter of the late Leslie and Leota Manker Runk.

Mary was a 1949 graduate of Hillsboro High School, a member of the First Christian Church of Wilmington, a friend to all, and loved her peanut butter.

She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Robert “Cob” Irwin whom she married May 11, 1951; son John (Connie) Irwin of New Vienna; daughter Jana Irwin of California; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jonda Hizman in September 2021; brothers Harold Runk and Wayne Runk; and infant twin sisters, Trina and Alberta Runk.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon - 1:00 PM, Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Smith Funeral Home, 64 S. South St., New Vienna, Ohio.  A funeral service with Chaplin Steve Wetterhan officiating will begin a 1:00 PM, Thursday.  Burial will follow in New Vienna I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
