Marylin Jane Faris Barnett, 84, of Bradenton, Florida (formerly of the Martinsville, Ohio area) passed away May 9, 2021 at her home in Bradenton, Florida.  Her husband, John Dixon Barnett Jr., preceded her in death.  They were married December 12, 1954.  Mrs. Barnett was born August 23, 1936 in Clinton County, Ohio, daughter of the late Wilmer Smith Faris and Mary Grace Sanders Faris.

Marylin was a graduate of Martinsville High School and attended Wilmington College majoring in elementary education.  She taught in the Warren County School system and the Blanchester School system.  She and her husband were also longtime farmers in Clinton County and were honored by having their farm designated as a Clinton County Century Farm.

She enjoyed family, gardening, and photography.  She was well known for her pies, especially her hickory nut pie.  After retirement to Bradenton, Florida she played professional shuffleboard.  She traveled to Japan, Australia, Canada, Africa, Ireland, and throughout the United States for competition as a player, team captain, and secretary of the International Shuffleboard Association.  She won the Florida State Championship and the World Championship twice.  Marylin also loved to paint in her retirement, especially with watercolors.  She made simple life events extraordinary with her creativity and unconditional love.

Survivors include her daughter, Teresa (Robert) Gallinis of Blanchester, Ohio; her son, John D. Barnett III of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands; a brother, Dr. Maynard “Spike” (Connie) Faris of Cincinnati, Ohio; brothers-in-law, Samuel (Joan) Barnett of Florida and James Barnett of Tennessee; grandchildren, Jeremy (Sonja) Hauck of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Adrienne (Randy) James of Beavercreek, Ohio, Robert Gallinis of Phoenix, Arizona, and Jennifer (Donnie) Wiederhold of Batavia, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Skylar Marylin James, Annika Maylee James, Edel Lin Hauck, August John Hauck, Robbie Gallinis, Katrina Gallinis, Joshua Gallinis, Isaac Wiederhold, Elijah Wiederhold, and Hannah Wiederhold; and several nieces and nephews.
