Norma Jean Kirk, 92, of Clarksville, Ohio passed away Monday, March 21, 2022 at her residence. Her husband, Lowell B. Kirk, preceded her in death. They were married July 29, 1950. She was born August 14, 1929 in Waverly, Ohio, daughter of the late Russell M. and Olga Elliott. She was a graduate of Waverly High School.
Norma retired April 1, 2000 from the Clinton Massie School District after 30 years driving a school bus. She also owned and operated Kirk’s Greenhouse in Clarksville for 50 years along with her late husband Lowell Kirk. In her early years of business, she was also a florist while Lowell ran a landscaping business with the greenhouse. She really enjoyed growing all the flower and vegetable plants from seed to the best quality that could be given to her customers over the 50-year span.
She is survived by her son, Alan (Patricia) Kirk; two grandchildren, Chris (Amy McCleese) Kirk and Jessica Hutchinson; four great-grandchildren, Taylor Hall, Brianna Tice, Kinsley Tice, and Ashlen Jackman; and two sisters, Geraldine Johnson and Marilyn Warrens.
In addition to her husband and parents, two brothers, Ralph Elliott and Danny Elliott, and a sister, Pauline Warren, are preceded in death.
The family would especially like to thank to Norma’s caregivers for their dedication in her last few months, Amber Shumaker, Ravonna Yeazel, Vicki Malott, Gina Flint, Pam Brothers, and Keeley Allen; as well as past caregivers, Jody Case, Danny Ravenscraft, Sherry Sholler, and Ashlen Jackman.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 12:30 PM, Monday, March 28, 2022 at Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio. A funeral service with Clair Hochstetler, officiating will begin at 12:30 PM, Monday. Burial will follow in Clarksville Cemetery.
