Paul L Shivers

Paul Lynn Shivers, age 77, passed away on January 13, 2026. He was born on February 18, 1948, at Hale Hospital in Wilmington, Ohio, the son of Leslie Pearce Shivers and Geneva “Kitty” Balzer Shivers.

Paul was a 1966 graduate of Wilmington High School. He earned his Bachelor of Music Education from Miami University and later his Master of Music Education from Ohio University. Paul dedicated 38 years to music education, sharing his love of music with countless students. He taught at East Clinton Local Schools, Big Walnut Local Schools, and Blanchester Local Schools, beginning his career with two years at East Clinton.

A gifted pianist, Paul shared his musical talents generously throughout his life. He played piano at Sabina United Methodist Church, was a member of the Clinton County Community Band, and attended Wilmington United Methodist Church. Music was not only his profession, but a lifelong passion and ministry.

Beyond music, Paul was an avid runner and proudly completed six marathons, demonstrating remarkable discipline and determination.

Paul is survived by his wife, Cindy (Oss) Shivers; his children, Mandy (Jason) Martin and Adam (Sarah) Shivers; and his six grandchildren, Tucker (Jessie) Tague, Shiloh (Cole) Shigley, Cana Shivers, Rusty (Kayla) Martin, Tzadok Shivers, and Pearl Shivers. He was also blessed with two great-granddaughters, Eloise Tague and Zelia Shigley.  Additionally, Paul is survived by his brothers, Craig Shivers, Pearce Shivers, and Dale Shivers.

Paul will be remembered for his devotion to family, his lifelong commitment to music education, his faith, and the many lives he touched through teaching and performance.

Paul’s family will receive friends from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM, Sunday, January 18, 2026 at Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio.  A service with Pastor Debbie Kaylor officiating will begin at 4:00 PM, Sunday.
