Raymond Kiser Obituary

Raymond Kiser peacefully passed away at his home on Friday, August 26, 2022.

Kentucky born and bred (and damn proud of it!)  Ray brought his work ethic and homespun humor across the Ohio River to work and retire from General Motors after 30 years of service.

Raymond was not shy about letting you know how he felt about anything from politics, farming or raising children.  An avid outdoorsman, friends were fortunate to hear him share stories about the best horse he ever rode, the best coon dog he ever hunted with, and the best kids in the state (his, of course!)  Many evenings were spent on his back deck, at the county fair or around the campfire at horse camp listening to Ray “hold court.”

Between his interest in horses and coon hunting, Raymond made many friends from not only Ohio but many other states. This was not surprising, as he seemed to have a knack of making friends quickly, as his philosophy was, “He or she is not a stranger, they’re just a friend I haven’t met.”

Those of us who knew him will not mourn his death – we will give thanks that we had the privilege of sharing our lives with him.  Rest in peace, Raymond Kiser, and the angels better bring a good walking horse to take you home!

Mr. Kiser is survived by his wife of many years, Sabrina; son Lee (Cara) Kiser of Columbus, Indiana; daughters, Pamela (Donald) Jones of Union, Ohio, Rachel Starnes of Wilmington, Ohio, and Misti Kiser (Brandon) Cook of Council, Idaho.  He also leaves behind a passel of grandchildren and great grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM, September 9, 2022 at Smith Funeral Homes, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio.  A celebration of Raymond’s life will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Raymond’s memory may be made to Community Care Hospice, 1669 Rombach Avenue, Wilmington, Ohio 45177.
