Ronald L. "Ron" Purcell

Ronald L. “Ron” Purcell, 78, of Wilmington, Ohio passed away Friday, June 21, 2024 at Bethesda North Hospital.  His wife, Linda Trivett Purcell, survives.  They were married on February 14, 1992.  He was born December 22, 1945 in Martinsville, Ohio, son of the late Floyd and Louise Swingley Purcell.  He was a graduate of Wilmington High School and served in the Ohio National Guard.

Mr. Purcell retired from General Electric where he worked as a machinist.  Ron enjoyed drag racing and loved working on and building race cars.  He also liked riding dirt bikes and motorcycles.

In addition to his wife, Ron is survived by his son, Jeff (Karlena Collins) Purcell of Wilmington, Ohio; grandchildren, Hanna Purcell and Alisha Purcell; a great-grandchild, Alexis Purcell; his nephew, Doug Reed; and several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

In addition to his parents, a sister, Carolyn Reed, preceded him in death.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM, Friday, June 28, 2024 at Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South Street, Wilmington, Ohio.  A funeral service with Pastor Dave Douglas officiating will begin at 1:00 PM, Friday.  Burial will be in Clinton County Memory Gardens.
