Sue Anne Schultz Markle, age 86, of Wilmington, Ohio, passed away September 19, 2024. She was born July 17, 1938, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Harry S. Schultz and Mary E. (Erwin) Schultz, both deceased. She was preceded in death by her husband, William M. Markle. Surviving are two sons, Todd C. (Erin) Markle and Jason A. (Andrea) Markle; grandchildren Zoe Muse-Markle and Logan Markle; sisters Sally Rowell and Mary Kay Cameron; niece, nephews, cousins and many close friends.
She graduated from Wilmington High School in 1956 and from The Ohio State University in the Dental Hygiene Program with a B.A. degree. She worked as a dental hygienist for James Faris and Clifford Steinle.
She was not only a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) of Wilmington, but active in a multitude of facets of the church, including two terms as president of the Christian Women’s Ministry, serving as chairperson of the kitchen, and as a member of First Christian Clowns (as “Rainbow”). She served as an elder and recently received the honor of being selected as Elder Emeritus. She also served on many committees throughout the years. She was one of a group of four known to themselves as “the four chicks,” and a member of the Golden Girls, a social friendship group.
She was active in Girl Scouts at a younger age and was also a member of the Lions Auxiliary. Sue was known for her giving and caring nature, helpful to all, and willing to step in at any time, all of this with a wonderful sense of humor.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM – 12:00 Noon, Saturday, September 28, 2024 at the First Christian Church, 120 Columbus St., Wilmington, Ohio, followed by a service at 12:00 Noon, Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Sue’s memory be made to First Christian Church, 120 Columbus St., Wilmington, Ohio 45177.
