Terry Allen Grooms, 82, of Wilmington, Ohio passed away Monday, June 22, 2026 at home surrounded by his family. He was born September 28, 1943 in Xenia, Ohio, son of the late George Fredrick Grooms and Margaret May “Maggie” Hayslip Grooms. He was a graduate of Jamestown High School. Mr. Grooms was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam. He married his wife, Virginia L. Cole Grooms on July 28, 1984.
Mr. Grooms retired from Vernay Laboratories in Yellow Springs. He enjoyed woodworking and drawing.
Survivors include his wife, Virginia L. Grooms; children, Tim Grooms of Xenia, Ohio, Michael Grooms of Jamestown, Ohio, Michelle Hilderbrandt of Wilmington, Ohio, and Terry (Abby) Smith of Liberty Township, Ohio; a brother, Charlie Grooms of Morristown, Tennessee; grandchildren, William Grooms, Samuel Grooms, Lauren (Brian Barker) Hilderbrandt, Evan (Kristina Decker) Hilderbrandt, Austin Hilderbrandt, Madeline Smith, and Jacob Smith; and great-grandchildren, Peyton Hilderbrandt and Owen Hilderbrandt.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son-in-law, Randy Hilderbrandt, three brothers, and four sisters.
A graveside service with Pastor Virgil Hawkins officiating, will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 1, 2026 at Woodland Cemetery, 281 Dayton Ave., Xenia, Ohio.
