Thelma I. Sutherland, 98, of Wilmington, Ohio passed away Sunday, October 31, 2021 at her residence. Her husband, Tivis D. Sutherland, preceded her in death. She was born October 16, 1923 in Clendenin, Kanawha, West Virginia, daughter of the late James Leach III and Nancy Edith Fitzwater Leach. She had worked at Russell Stover in Nashville and Ledex in Wilmington.
Thelma is survived by a daughter, Diana S. Sutherland of Wilmington, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Wilma Sutherland; grandchildren, Sharon Sutherland, Michael (Yanka) Sutherland, Sheree Thomas, and Anthony Thomas; great-grandchildren, Lauren VanDyne, Jessica Robin, Nikki Robin, Kiernon Thomas, Kanani Thomas, Alec Thomas, Madison Thomas, Miya Thomas, Gabby Pierce, and Maddy Pierce; great-great-grandchildren, Kiera and Brynlee; and sister-in-law, Helen Leach.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Sutherland; a daughter, Charlotte I. Thomas; a grandson, Alvin W. Thomas III; brothers and sisters-in-law, James & Myrtle Leach, Edmond & Lilly Leach, and Euell Leach; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorthy & Ralph Jones, Ethel & Benjanine Boner, and Helen & Jonny Riggs; half-sisters, Myrtie, Missouri, Althea, Estle, and Opal; and half-brothers, Charles, Lawrence, and Oliver.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Clinton County Memory Gardens.
