William "Bill" Patrick Obituary

William Ernest “Bill” Patrick, 98, of Wilmington, Ohio passed away July 15, 2024 at his residence.  His wife, Johan Thompson Patrick, preceded him in death February 23, 2014.  They were married on January 28, 1972.  He was born June 10, 1926 in Wilmington, Ohio, son of the late William Patrick and Dorothy L. Blackmore Patrick.  He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

Mr. Patrick retired in 1976 after 30 years at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.  He was a member of the American Legion Post 49 and a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 1224.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.

Bill is survived by his stepchildren, Kathy S. (Michael) Kara of Newton, North Carolina, Donald E. Smith of Wilmington, Ohio, Brian K. (Brenda) Smith of Washington Court House, Ohio, and Corby L. (Christopher) Carnell of Clarksville, Ohio; ten step-grandchildren, Erik, Nicole, Stephanie, Nathan, Nicholas, Sean, Lacy, Jesse, April, and Todd; eleven step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frances Hurley Blackmore, Ernest G. Blackmore, John Patrick, and Nanny Patrick.

A graveside service with Larry Speelman officiating will be held 12:30 PM, Monday, July 22, 2024 at Sugar Grove Cemetery in Wilmington.  Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 49 Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Bill’s memory may be made to the American Legion Post 49, 140 E Locust St, Wilmington, OH 45177.
