Wilma Dupuis-Carey Obituary

Wilma C. Dupuis-Carey, 91, of Ocala, Florida (formerly of Wilmington, Ohio) passed away Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at Miami Valley Hospital with family at her bedside.  She was born June 30, 1930, Toledo, Ohio, daughter of the late William C. Bunting and Elsie Freeland Kaser.  She was a 1948 graduate of The Waite High School in Toledo.

Wilma was an employee of the Wilmington & Clinton County Municipal Court where she worked for more than 30 years. During her time at the court, she was awarded the Outstanding Deputy Clerk Award for the State of Ohio in 1985. Southwest Ohio Municipal Court Clerks Award and a degree in Court Administration from Ohio University. She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Wilmington and Saint Matthews Lutheran Church in Ocala, Florida. Wilma kept young at heart by dancing, playing cards, listening to all kinds of music and spending time with her family and friends that meant everything to her. She was a member of the Elks Ocala Lodge #286, Ocala Singles Dance Club, Ocala VFW Auxiliary, The McDonald’s & Panera Morning Breakfast Club, Ocala Square Dancing Club, The Ocala Red Hats Society, Paddock Mall Walkers, The Eastern Star, The Waite High School Alumni, Wilmington Women’s American Legion Post #49 Auxiliary. She was a proud and dedicated Ohio State Highway Patrol wife to her husband Fred.      

Wilma is survived by two sons, Darrel (Kathy) Dupuis of Wilmington, Ohio and Terry Dupuis of Wilmington, Ohio; a daughter, Tamra (Rick Likovetz) Maynard of Wilmington, Ohio; five grandchildren, Eric (Jenn) Dupuis, Jessica Hull, Lauren (Kelli) Dupuis, Gary (Sarah Fizer) Smith, and Rebecca (Josh) Riley; and seven great-grandchildren, Riley, Ella, Olivia, Jackson, Brice, Amanda, and Danielle. Also, by the family of her second husband Dwight Carey and his daughters Angel Carey, Cheryl Leone and Charlene Hypes and their extended families which she loved and cared for as her own. Along with many friends that she dearly loved.

She was preceded in death by her first husband whom she married on September 3, 1949, Frederick M. Dupuis; her second husband whom she married on July 12, 2002, Dwight Carey; a stepbrother, Gene Kaser; and a grandson-in-law, Darren Hull.

A celebration of Wilma’s life will be held 1:00 PM, Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Faith Lutheran Church, 421 East Vine Street, Wilmington, Ohio.
